The Story Behind “The Quad Cave”: The Ultimate Sportsman’s Secret Weapon

If you read our last post about The Transformer, you know how passionate we are about helping folks outsmart restrictive county building departments. We figured out a way to build a primary residence footprint that can secretly transform into a full-sized garage later on.

But shortly after designing it, we started talking to a specific group of passionate log home lovers: the ultimate outdoorsmen, hunters, fishermen, and trail riders.

They told us, "We love the concept of living on our land right away while we plan our bigger home. But we don't want to wait to have a place for our toys. We need a secure, dedicated space right now for the quad, the side-by-side, the hunting gear, and the waders—without sacrificing a single inch of cozy cabin living."

We heard you loud and clear. We took the DNA of our most flexible design, evolved it, and created The Quad Cave.

The Footprint: Bigger Living, Smarter Storage

To give the sportsman exactly what they needed, we expanded the footprint slightly to a comfortable 26x24 foot layout, bringing the total space up to a roomy 936 square feet, still using the "Smart Build Bonus System" to get that loft condition.

Instead of waiting years to convert the entire main floor into a garage, we built a dedicated, single-car quad-style garage right into the main floor blueprint from day one!

  • The 8x13 Toy Vault: This built-in garage is the perfect size to pull in an ATV, a UTV, or a couple of dirt bikes after a long day on the trails. It’s a secure, weather-proof space to wrench on your gear, dry out your fishing waders, or store your hunting equipment safely out of sight.

  • Zero Sacrifices on Comfort: Because we isolated the garage to its own corner, the rest of the main floor opens up into a massive, wide-open 23x12 Great Room and dining area. You get a full kitchen, a downstairs bathroom, and plenty of room to swap stories around the table after a day in the woods.

Upgrading the Sanctuary: The Sportsman's Suite

While the main floor is all about gathering, cooking, and storing gear, we knew that after an exhausting day in the great outdoors, you need a serious place to recharge.

Using our signature Smart Build Bonus System (our advanced attic truss design), we unlocked 312 square feet of second-floor living space. But unlike the open loft design of The Transformer, The Quad Cave features a fully private, dedicated master bedroom suite upstairs.

Complete with its own full bathroom, linen storage, and a deep closet, the second floor becomes a quiet, cozy sanctuary. It’s the ultimate place to get a warm, deep night’s sleep before the sun comes up for the morning hunt.

The Ultimate Basecamp or Future ADU

Just like its older brother, The Quad Cave is incredibly adaptable.

If you are using it to establish your primary residence permit on your land while you build your forever home, it serves as a luxurious, ultra-comfortable basecamp. You don't have to live out of a camper or a dusty trailer; you have a premium, beautiful log cabin with a built-in garage for your most prized possessions.

And down the road.... when your main log home is completed, The Quad Cave effortlessly transitions into the ultimate guest house, an income-generating rental, or a detached mountain retreat that your hunting buddies will be begging to stay in.
