Your home’s

Character.

The log you choose defines more than just the look of your home. It shapes how you live in it. Three precision-milled red cedar profiles, each with its own personality.

Precision crafted
Hand peeled or hand hewn Red Cedar logs, every time.

As the nation's largest full-line producer of structurally graded Red Cedar, we hand-craft every log to maximize its natural timeless beauty. Scroll down to explore our three signature profiles, select your sizes, and choose the perfect corner style to define your home's character.

We’ll quote on anything — a napkin sketch, plans from another architect, or a design you’ve sourced elsewhere. We don’t need to have drafted the home.

Three log profiles. One mill.

Round log — actual material
The classic, hand-peeled silhouette.

The classic log home profile with our standard hand peeled natural finish. Round logs create a warm, enveloping atmosphere with a timeless connection to nature. Their natural curves cast deep, shifting shadows that give your home an organic, cozy feel, perfect for the tucked-away, deep-woods retreat.

Produced in the classic Swedish Cope profile, or the more modern Tongue & Groove R profile.

A bold, architectural presence.

For a bold, architectural presence. Timber logs, with their squared profile and clean lines, enhance the sense of space, openness and natural beauty. If you love the look of a mountain lodge or a modern rustic home, squared logs create a structured, grand aesthetic with strong visual depth.

Standard finish is hand hewn. Pairs naturally with heavy timber framing in great rooms and dormers.

D-Log — actual material
The best of both worlds.

D-logs balance timeless warmth with a practical, functional interior. A rounded exterior keeps the classic log look (with a natural hand peeled finish), and a flat interior (with an old world hewn finish) makes furniture placement and decorating straightforward, without sacrificing authenticity.

A good fit for owners who want the outside to read traditional and the inside to read modern.

What’s in every Sierra package.
01
Log & Timber Walls
The structural heart of your home, manufactured from hand-finished Incense Cedar.
  • Log or Timber Species: Red Cedar (Incense Cedar)
  • Log or Timber Surface Finish: All material is hand-peeled or hand-hewn as a standard. Sierra Exclusive
  • Log or Timber Cutting: Our proprietary “Sierra Smart Cut” system panels, labels, and cuts logs for faster, more efficient building with less waste. Sierra Exclusive
  • Log & Timber Sidings: We produce matching interior and exterior siding for all of our log and timber profiles. For walls that are not log or timber (framed), matching siding creates the identical look. Siding can be used on interior walls, garages, breezeways, dormers, gables, etc. We also produce many other siding profiles that are not log or timber related: board & batten, lap, “V” groove, etc.
  • Structural Log or Timber Grading: Sierra has been a long time grading subscriber of “TimberProducts” grading inspection service. The log or timber wall & post components are graded to a “Wall Log 40 grade” (known as #2 grade). Typically, the header, beam, girder and/or ridge components are graded to “Premium grade” (known as #1 grade) (actual engineering will control what the grade will be of all log or timber components). The log or timber components are either grade stamped or a grade certificate can be produced.
  • Log or Timber Moisture Content & Settling: The log profile is produced from green log or timber blanks. The Incense Cedar air dries quickly while in production and completely in the building. Due to Incense Cedar being known as the “most stable softwood species”, the shape does not change much during drying, which yields a very low settling experience. The standard we use is allowing for a planned shrinkage of ¾″ to 1″ per 9′ of wall height.
